Crude oil, retail gasoline prices decline

DAILY SUN -- Crude oil, retail gasoline prices decline

By DAVID R. CORDER, DAILY SUN

THE VILLAGES β€” Consumer pocketbooks grew a little fatter Thursday at the gasoline pumps.

Crude oil prices plummeted on the New York Mercantile Exchange, fueling speculation that gasoline prices might fall even further than in recent days.

This is more good news for Villages-area residents, who over the past week or so have seen gasoline retailers cut almost a dime off the price of a gallon of unleaded regular.

Some of The Villages retailers posted prices around $2.54 a gallon, about 9 cents off the price they charged about a week ago.

Prices are down here as well, but only very slightly. Average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline has only dropped about $.03 in the last 2 weeks.

Go figure, The price has dropped a dime at the Villages, about 100 miles north of the Port of Tampa where all the fuel comes in, yet right next to the Port the prices has dropped very little, and there is no transport costs. There is no rhyme or reason on how thes prices are set, ad if ther is, the oil companies keep it a big secret.
