Obama may not have a problem with gas at $4/gal, but I sure as heck do! I also have a problemw with government instituting policies, such as high gas taxes, as a disincentive to automobile ownership. These are European ideas, and we're NOT Europe! We are America, where freedom of choice and personal liberty rule the day. To the Devil with Obama's socialist policies...

one of the reasons why Obama is not having an issue w/ $4/gal is that this is the only way we can get moving forward in the quest for independence from fossil fuels. Who would want to find alternative energy sources if gas is at $1.50? Not profitable, let's face it!

The writer is more concerned about keeping gas prices low at all costs regardless of the harm to environment. He only cares about his fuel bill.

Obama is a power hungry socialist would be dictator. He supports the worst dictators on earth and puts down democracy every chance he gets. So, high oil prices can give him more control over us.

The expectation was that most drivers have to get along with problems, and hear it is the price of gas. The price of $4 a gallon maybe used as the "boiling point" of trouble for drivers.
Even with the market down, we still use some of the largest amounts of fuel in the world today.
The price may be down today, what is it going to be in the next couple of years? It would be a surprice to the see the price of gas fall below the $1.50 a gallon.

The greed factor is what has driven this recession and it is still keeping it going. Until it stops we will face higher prices for everything

Who cares what Obama said. What he's doing now is what counts. Why should he care if gas prices rise. He doesn't have to go out and fill his gas tank.

You want lower gas prices here, Drill for oil here in the U.S.A and keep the other countries from drilling off the coast line like they are already doing. We are letting China take the our oil right in front of us and we do nothing about it, except pay higher gas prices - thanks to the Environmentalists and liberals - Get real people.

Preach it BROTHER, amen, yes. This article is right on! I can't afford a small car, my '00 F350 Diesel is small enough for me and my family, and it's PAID for, can anyone afford to buy a new car right now? You got a job, will consider yourself lucky cause you may now have it tomorrow. You people with the SMART cars will be a bump in the road to me. And I get 18 MPG with my 4x4. Could get more if I kept my foot out of it, but I love the whine of the turbo and the power it makes!

all it does is make opec more powerful with control over us with the oil, Plus those who can not afford the increase will be hurt the most. Then there is the GREED factor behind it all.

Well said, Dick57. Until our economy is not so oil dependent, we need low prices. Given the amount of oil here we should not even be talking about this.

Letting the price of gas go up slowly seems to me a poor way to force people to take on more conserving methods. All it does is go along with those who benefit the specdevils and oilbarons as well as giving OPEC foreign aid they do not deserve!!!

Gas prices in North America have to remain lower than countries in Europe for the American and Canadian economies to survive. People seem to forget that in a lot of European countries distances that people and goods have to travel are far shorter than they are here. Alternative fuel sources are a great start on becoming less dependent on fossil fuels but we do have to survive with heavy use of gasoline and diesel until suitable alternatives become available to everyone. We can all conserve as much as possible but that is only a partial solution. Everyone can read of the oil companies huge profits but it's always the average Joe that pays for this in the end. Going green is also important but it must be done over time as the economy permits.
