Canada is self sufficent only in volume.
We export from from the west and import in the east. Any investment to expand local (meaning north America) production of energy resources is good news to america and Canada. We have to break the hold the Middle east has on our economy.

I'm thinking there isnt much coal powered electric in the Los Angeles area, which is where the test is taking place.

Hi! Historically the US has developed the infrastructure for most of the major oil producers in the world and have then had to turn them over to the countries (think of the various countries in South America, Africa, and the Middle East). Seems that we are the "ugly Americans" when it comes to trying to be involved with energy exploration and development in another country, but it's fine if another nation (think of BP and Shell currently) does the same to us.
