BP bets Namibia is the next hot spot for oil

GasBuddy Blog -- On the southwest coast of Africa, Namibia, a stable democracy, has stood mysteriously quiet over the past 50 years when it comes to activity connected with oil exploration. Africa's west coast has seen oil exploration reward Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Mauritania, not to mention OPEC's Nigeria, and Angola, but for years Namibia has merely watched. That's because no oil has been found there.

All that could change very soon. Business Week and Bloomberg are reporting that BP last month became the largest shareholder in a parcel covering Namibia's Nimrod offshore oil prospects, which may yield the third largest discovery of oil this year, according to Morgan Stanley.

Robert "Bob" Dudley, chief executive officer of...

BP is a bunch of crooks. They ALWAYS have the highest prices here in the Atlanta area...by at least $.15 usually more.

BP bets Namibia is the next hot spot for oil? Once the oil fields are developed and producing watch for unrest in the country. You have to treat your citizens right (share the wealth) or rebels will try to take over the country.
There is oil all over the world, find it , get it out of the ground and to market.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Namibia is too beautiful a place to ruin with oil drills and oil pumps. It is home to world's second largest canyon, the Fish River Canyon. A unique plant is the Quiver tree. Scientific name is Aloe dichotoma, the largest of the aloe plants. It is also called Köcherbaum, as this used to be a Dutch Colony.

Really, Africa as a whole should not be a dumping ground.

BP would be well-advised to pay particular attention to it's blowout preventers there.
