Enbridge Pipelines to Ease Crude Logjam: Corporate Canada

Bloomberg -- Enbridge Inc. plans to expand U.S. pipeline capacity may help generate as much as $15 billion for Canadian oil-sands producers such as Suncor Energy Inc. and boost government tax revenue as Alberta crude begins to command a higher price.

Canadian crude has been backing up in the U.S. trading hub at Cushing, Oklahoma, along with oil produced in North Dakota, forcing down prices. Western Canada Select oil, a Canadian benchmark, has sold for about $42 a barrel less than world prices this year, a record gap, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The differential is more than four times greater than the same period two years earlier.

..Enbridge’s plan may not face as many challenges as the Alberta-to-Texas Keystone XL project because it doesn’t cross the border, so it won’t need U.S. State

rj: we can hope that sending Canada crude to the East will keep the prices down. There are import capabilities to Europe...

Yet another oil company project to increase their profits and increase our gas prices. All this will accomplish is to move Canadian, and Bakken, crude to Gulf Coast refineries which will refine it and sell the products overseas. That will increase the price for Canadian crude, and the cost to Midwestern refineries that currently use cheaper Canadian crude. That will increase gas prices in the Midwest.

Far better to send Canadian crude to those refineries in the East that are shutting down because most of their crude is imported from overseas.

I would prefer buying from Canada than from our enemies since we don't want to develop our abundant oil.

Rather have Canadian crude than countries like Venezula, Iran, and other OPEC countries that would rather see us vanquished...

I'd rather be buying Canadian oil than OPEC oil even if it is derived from tar sands.

I would not support anything that would encourage further mining of the tar sands; however, the Cushing-to-coast pipeline seems like it has enough merit to move forward.

Oil should be the law of the land for a while - that and natural gas . ..

No one has said much about the cost of replacing batteries in those electric cars yet - But I've heard estimates of as much as $10,000 to replace them . . . in one car! . . . how long do theuy last? . . will you get 3 to 5 years from them? . . I'm sure it varies.

Fuel cells - ha! never made it. . . . The only thing we know where someone will save money on alternative fuels will be the compnies that have yet to prove anything will work. . These things take tame, and just aren't ready for this kind of money yet.

The government is blocking pipelines and oil leases, and has rules on shipping US port to US port that force us to use foriegn oil . .. .How little did we know that our government has been hiding this from us. - They cause it, we pay. . . and they want to be re-elected?

Obviously the conversion to alternative energy sources is going to take time. We still have to pursue petroleum sources for now.

Until we can find a viable replacement, fossil fuels will be the law of the land. Spend a few dollars on research instead of lining the pockets of your contributors mr. president!!!!!
