MPH is one thing, but that does not include the price it will cost to charge up the battery & how many charges is a battery good for, I heard they were expensive to replace. At $40,000. that's twice what I paid for my Pruis.

It cost only a little less than the Volt. What makes ford thinks it will be a winner?

“Ford has also partnered with solar panel maker SunPower to offer a rooftop household solar installation for new owners of the upcoming Ford Focus electric.”
Good for Ford; this is the only way that EVs make any sense – coupled with solar recharging. I hope Ford stock will go up.

The EPA has some silly formula to compute a phony MPG for electric cars, to help illustrate efficiency vs. gasoline.

I don't think an all electric car would fulfill my needs, but home it does well. What is the meaning of MPG for an all electric car?

Once again, Ford comes up with a real winner for those who are willing to pay the premium for a plug-in electric car.

Good grief, that piece of junk cost $40K. Forget it!!
I rather buy a used Hummer for 20K and have 20K leftover for gas.

I'd rather have a Flinstone mobile than a electric Ford or even a Ford at all. Tried one once. Never again.

They just do not compete with gas auto's. High cost and very limited range and use.

How can an electric car get any miles per gallon? Apples and oranges. A better statistic would be dollars per mile or kilometer.

Good work but need to work on the range for a single charge. Also need to provide cheaper/more convenient re-charging methods.

I will certify if for 120 MPH by pushing it over a cliff @32ft. per sec2. but that doesn't mean it is a good car.

I don't care what an electric car is "certified" at because electric cars will not be sufficient for transportation beyond the neighborhood. You can't drive to any destinations of distance and expect to "fill your tank" and get where you want to go with an electric car. There is also no study of how much an electric car costs to operate. Electricity is not any cheaper than gasoline. How much does it cost per mile using just an electric charge?
Electric cars are okay for golf courses and shopping malls, but don't expect anything more from them. Try to recall the last product you had that used a rechargeable battery, such as a laptop, cell phone, GPS, electric razor, etc. None of these products have a battery that is good for much after a short lifespan of use.
The bottom line is that electric cars are neat to think about conceptually, but they are not practical or cheap. Until they can invent the perpetual motion machine or find a way to recharge an electric car continuously on the road without having to plug it in, they should remain just ideas from science fiction.

still need to go further on a single charge and they need to be priced so "normal" people can buy them. Not everybody has $40K to buy a new vehicle.

Still too costly. However, I am glad to see Ford doing well. Unlike GM and Chrysler that stole from the US taxpayers.
