I know that the highway MPG isn't as high as a Prius, but it is a much more practical size car for most families and it's American made!

Well, I drive a Chevy diesel and a Honda Civic... let's see, I get a double combined mileage of about 23 to 25 mpg. That's pretty dang good for an 8 cylinder older model diesel that tows about 8,000 lbs and a Honda that routinely drives above 55 mph (yes, our interstates allow up to 70 mph). Guess I got that Fusion mpg almost reached with a combined mileage..

I don't buy MT nor do I care much about their selections. Seems they more often than not find the wrong cars to promote - gas guzzlers, cars that may be popular but are overall poor choices.

Motor Trend really should be name USA's Motor Trend. Most of their articles are focused on US cars. But I am still glad to see an American car company holding its own against the Asian and European cars.

How is 25, 26 or 27 mpg fuel efficient in a new car? The car I just got rid of due to other problems developed that were to costly, was a 98 Stratus that was getting about 26 mpg. I am sure that when it was bought by its first owner it was getting more fuel efficient that 27 mpg.

That must be one very special Camry, Danny999
The government website has the Camry at 21 city, and 30 highway, for an overall rating of 24 MPG.

sounds great, but the fusion hybrid needs to be more affordable and the 27mpg of the regular model needs to be improved.

Caddilac, I'm sorry you've had such bad luck with those Fords. currently have 3 Fords and a Chevy, and my mileage isn't on a closed course as I said earlier. The 3rd being a 1970 1/2 Falcon with a 351w. It does about average for the year. My Mustang is a '93 5.0 and I don't measure it's mileage. As far as quality I'll match my Crown Vic against most cars today and the 27mpg is on US highways usually around 70mph or so. And I do read the ad small print, on TV and in print. If the last good one you had was the '53 Meteor I guess you should rent a new one and give them a break. You and I are probably some of the few that remember what they even were.

Way to go Ford. But 27 mpg? I thought they were supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. They have the leaves and everything to show how green they are. My Chevy Venture gets 25 mpg. I'm supposed to give up my comfort and safety for 2mpg? I don't think so.

Cheney might want to take a look around at what's new, economical, nice sized and currently available. Most cars have a very similar look. It, may not be the greatest but it is more aerodynamic, and safer, than past autos. At least those currently available to all but the wealthy.

A superior vehicle to either the Accord or the Camry. Not that Japanese loyalists will pay much attention.
