they're quick learners. Took the US 100 years to demand renewables, Europe about 85 years.

Joesk1 wanted to know if anyone had an explanation for Global Warming. Here is mine.
Global Warming
In the late 50's I had visited The Museum of Science and Industry and took a little interactive electronic cancer questionnaire. It gauged your risk percentage of developing cancer over your lifetime. To my surprise, one of the questions was " Are You a Commercial Flight Crew Member?" If you answered yes, it raised your risk level percentage. Later the explanation was that cancer increased because the crew's ionizing radiation exposure was above the general population. Now remember jets were about only 1 year into the industry, so these values were based mostly on propeller airplane travel.
Fast Forward to the 90's when I started flying wide body's overseas and I became interested in the risk of cosmic radiation exposure for high altitude long haul flight crews. Out of curiosity I subscribed to Rice Universities Solar Flare project. Rice U would send me email alerts every time there was unusual solar activity.
During solar flares crew cosmic radiation exposure can increase 10 fold. I was interested in getting info about solar activity during my long all night flights . Not sure what I could do about it, but I wanted to know.
What did I notice? Almost 3 time a week I would get a Red Alert or Yellow Alert email from Rice. This was unheard of. This was not normal. This went on for months and years during the mid to late 90's. It was very unusual( No I didn't buy a lead helmet). But why do I tell you this?
The reason I bring this all up is to say that during extreme solar wind activity the sun runs hotter than normal. Hotter Sun means more heat radiation reaches earth as well.
So is there Global Warming? You Betcha! But it's not your SUV that's doing it.Regards,

Odd how china is becoming the "world's" most sensible "super-power" and the U.S.A. is becoming a "bench warmer". Wonder if the current "tyranny" in charge has anything to do with the change in events.

The world hasn't seen a technology revolution this big since the industrial revolution. Apparently China has figured that out.
Lead, Follow or get out of the way.
Oh well, maybe the US can get back on top with the NEXT global technology revolution in about 100 years or so.

Maybe there is hope, if we can convince the true polluters of the world, China and India, to stoppumping so much greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Going green should be gradual, not sudden. Achieving it through a socialist government is not the way to do it.

We need to fully develop earth-magnet generators to replace all these coal fired power plants. To do otherwise is irresponsible.

For years China watched and learned from the US, how to do and not do things. Now maybe it is our turn to watch and learn.

The US has far too many whiny people with greedy lawyers who make Not In My Back Yard a VERY COSTLY IMPEDIMENT TO PROGRESS... And because the government is ruled by lawyers, we don't do much about it...
I wonder if lawyers could be composted into a reliable (and certainly renewable) fuel source? ;)

The most people in the world tend to generate the most pollution. If China does not try to reduce, then there is no need for the EU and NA to try anything as India and China together make NA/USA mute.

I hope they can 'clean up' their act. If coal is good enough for them, why not us? Indiana and midwest states supposedly are going to be hurt the most by cap and trade legislation.
