"If the grading system were applied now, many 2010 vehicles could get fairly low grades because the ratings favor fuel-efficient electric and hybrid models."
Let the truth be known...

Just give me the facts and I'll make the judgment call on the car.

"After 19 months of no help..."? Try more like 15 years of no help. Both major political parties are owned by the mega corporations. Even the Supreme Court has ruled that corporations have more rights then individuals (via money = free speech). When it comes to choosing the financial interests of the corporation verse the health and well-being of the citizen, we loose every time.
As for this minor tinkering of the rating system, eh, OK. I would rather have more efficient and less polluting cars.

True MidNJ, but citizens in dire straits expect help from their leader.
After 19 months of no help, no matter why or when problems started, it's disappointing to say the least. To make matters worse, we watch as banks, corporations, insurance companies, GM, Fannie & Freddie, and many more get rescued.

Jeff,
It is not just about the Obama Administration, it is about a whole lot more.
Blame can be placed in many places, including the Bushes, Clinton, and all before.

Amazing; the Obama administration sticks it's big nose into every corner of business. How about do something that relates to creating jobs?

" .... were immediately denounced by some industry groups, which said the government should not be making value judgments for consumers about vehicles." Just like we allowed the 'Market' to work in the Wall Street collapse / implosion of 2008. Just like we allow the 'Market' to work in deeming which food is safe, which airline, which restaurant, which elevator. BALONEY! This what governments SHOULD doing, all over the world. 'Looking Out' for their constituents, giving them a 'heads up'.
