I sure hope it pans out. Of course if Warren thinks it's something worth investing, it probably is a good thing.

You can do very little legally in the US without getting permission. To get that permission you have to pay. To be able to pay you need investors, you get the investors to have the money to pay for permission and if you are successful the investors will take control and make the money for a long time. If you are lucky you will get a chunk of change for your trouble.
Look at the creator of the Tesla electric car. He is no longer with the company being forced out and the new owners say they did it all.

China is already in the lead when it comes to manufacturing ANYTHING.... So why is this news?!?! The REAL NEWS should be; "Americans are undereducated, lazy, and uncompetitive". When was the last time YOU went to China??? I used to run a import/export company of which about half of my suppliers where located in China... I no longer do business with China or Korea for example, but their STUDENTS are very advanced and are majoring in ENGINEERING and other degrees that make the world a better place, instead of "womens studies" or some other useless "degree".... Oh, and how many Americans do you know that can speak 3 languages?!?! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! We need to get our country back on track! America was the MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, but what can we say now?!?! THE MOST IN DEBT!!!!

Even though this article was originally written on April 23, 2009, I was able to pull up the new link to the article. New battery could steer China into lead in electric-car market

I for one would wish that American politicians and businessmen would stop pandering to China. Enough is enough, vote these crooks out of office!

the US needs to focus on being the leader in the world again and stop squabbling over stupid things and trying to tear down each other. the recent months after Palin and McCain lost, Democrats are obsessed with tearing Palin and ohter Republicans down instead of trying to solve problems.
what's the point of putting democrats in control if they just waste it?

How long will the battery last? Made of iron means it will rust.

Leefree is right on with our nation being "soft". It has become fat and sassy, like the spoiled child it is. Asia, Europe and the Middle East nations have been around for thousands of years. We are the new kid on the block and about to get whipped if we do not shape up and fly right.

Now, let me see if I have this right....China bought "Hummer" and now is developing a revolutionary battery? Sounds like a plan coming together! Like a quiet stealth Hummer for their zillion man/women military? Whoa! "Revolution is brewing once again."

jmuse, we didn't come up with the idea because for more than a generation the US has been declining relative to the rest of the developed nations. Our school systems and access to higher education are no longer a priority for government spending. We have become a soft nation that relies on borrowing rather than hard work to have money. It's a sad situation for the US but one that has been coming on for a long time.

More proof America is no longer leading the world in anything, but, living in a pacifists utopia. Washington's addiction to power and their use of going green to get their fix will lead to our ruin.

Let the dinosaurs die off and let new innovations rule the day. If this works, produce enough of them so they'll be practical and affordable.

Doesn't matter who came up with it, we just need to make sure it truly is green and works as planned. We can make them here and use them.

They have the advantage since they probably don't have to spend years on impact studies to see if their production facilities meet EPA standards. We will catch up with them in about 20 years or so. I am continually astounded at the inability of the U.S. to be the leader in development of new products. We used to be the world leader in just about everything and now the attitude is if I cant make a quick profit then don't try. We are well on our way to being a 3rd world country.

Any progress being made in a positive direction is good, whether foreign made or domestic....this is a different world and it has shrunk tremendously. I hope they succeed we will all gain from it if it works well and is environmentally friendly.
