Rumor says Volkswagen will sell Scirocco in US

Car deal expert -- Every now and again, the rumor mill spits out the possibility that Volkswagen is going to start selling the Scirocco sports hatch in the U.S. The rumor mill is at it again as VW is working on a new model.

Another new old model

A small cadre of people have been salivating for several years over the prospect of Volkswagen selling the modern Scirocco, a three-door hot hatch, in the United States. Mechanically, the Scirocco is similar to the Golf, except the Scirocco is much prettier, with flared rear fenders and sharper lines, similar to an Alfa Romeo Brera.

If this VW offers 60+ mpg in a clean diesel, I'd consider it, but I'm not taking on a car payment for only a piddly improvement in gas mileage...

Good Luck....

I used to buy GM's (Chevy's and Buicks) , but now it's Honda all the way....

VW NEVER gets on the radar at all....

The current Scirocco is a modern take on an older model that Volkswagen sold in the United States until 1988. It was discontinued completely in 1992

A lot of cars that are NOT sold in the USA are because they do NOT meet the US safety or EPA standards. This applies for a lot of sharp looking, high mileage models that are sold in Europe and Asia.
